We have had news that former pupil Tommy Gambles died peacefully today at 3.25pm in Spring Hill Hospice. He had been suffering from bladder cancer. Tommy left our school in 1967.

News has been received that Carole Vince’s (nee Came) sister Beverley Came has sadly passed away. Both sisters attended our school.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Valerie Feather (nee Gornall) on Friday 28 March. She was surrounded and supported by her husband Dion and her two sons, Dion and Matthew. Valerie left our school in 1980.
A memorial service will be held at St. Marys Church, Morecambe on Thursday 10 April at 1.30pm. The family welcome anyone who wishes to honour Val.

Class of ’79 pupil Philip Williamson recently passed away. His funeral will be held on Monday 31 March at 1pm at Vale Royal Crematorium on the A556 road near Northwich. (The postcode is CW9 8RP.)

We have learnt the sad news David Larkey has died. He passed away in October, but this news has only just reached us. David left our school in 1990.

It is with sadness that we have learned of the death of Mr Bob Percy, who worked for many years in the Audiology Room at Birkdale.
Former Principal Mrs Wood says she remembers him for his sense of humour and philosophical, calm attitude as well as his attention to detail in anything audiological. He went about his work quietly, often with a smile, and took a great interest in all the young people at school and was proud of the achievements of former pupils.
Mrs Wood also says:
“I am glad that I had the opportunity to work in the same school as Mr Percy. I never heard him say a bad word about anybody. He was a valued colleague, a polite gentleman and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Tony Wright also remembers Mr Percy as a funny and likeable person. Tony says Mr Percy even filmed a couple of magic shows he did with some of the pupils.
Mr Percy’s funeral will be at Southport Crematorium at 1pm on Monday 4 November.

Lorna Haycock, who left our school in 1987, sadly passed away a week yesterday (20 June).
Her funeral will take place next Friday 5 July at 10.30am at Flintshire Crematorium, Oakenholt Lane, Northop, CH7 6DF.

We are sad to learn former pupil Joseph O’Neill took his own life on 10 March. Joseph’s funeral will be taking place at Widnes Crematorium on 28 March at 12pm.
